I am so excited to introduce you to our group guitar classes in Singapore. Music and the guitar has been a constant companion in my life, as a form of catharsis and means of expression. It's truly a privilege to share this passion and my decades of teaching and performing experience with you.

I hope that this class will provide you with a safe and supportive space to explore your own musical journey.

Whether you're a beginner at guitar or have some experience, I believe that everyone has the potential to be good at the guitar. Together, we'll learn new chords, strumming patterns, and techniques, but most importantly, we'll discover the fulfilment that comes from playing the guitar. I can't wait to see what you'll achieve. 

Join me at this 12-week course, a program that I have designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to become a proficient guitarist.  

Course Outline

Weeks 1-4: Building the Foundation

  • Basic guitar care and maintenance

  • Proper posture and hand positioning

  • Tuning and basic chords (G, C, D, E, A)

  • Strumming patterns and simple chord progressions

  • Learning a beginner-friendly song 

Weeks 5-8: Expanding Skills

  • Minor chords (Am, Dm, Em, Bm, Gm)

  • Basic fingerpicking techniques

  • Intermediate chords (F, Bb, F#m, Bbm)

  • Learning a second beginner-friendly song 

Weeks 9-12: Putting It Together

  • Jamming and improvisation

  • Learning a more complex song 

  • Sharing of tips and hacks

  • Reviewing and celebrating accomplishments

By the end of this course, you will have a solid foundation in guitar playing, including essential techniques, basic music theory, and the ability to play a variety of songs. This will equip you to continue your musical journey and explore more advanced topics in the future.

At what age is it best to start guitar lessons?
Generally, ages 6-7 are considered a good starting point. This is when many children have developed enough fine motor skills and coordination to hold and play the guitar. If not, a great alternative is the 'ukulele.
